Remember! Every Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Rona mans a helpline for your enquiries about just about anything. Call: 08-8528602 for her input.
Farewell and good luck to Sam Klein who's back in Canada to be closer to his daughter. He sends his best regards and good wishes to all who know him.
And leaving Ashdod but still in our hearts: Frieda and Peter Gerson are moving to Rehovoth. We wish them continued health and lots of activities.
Get well soon: To Dudu Gelman good wishes for a speedy recovery.
Welcome to Ashdod: To Arlene Lipzin, many years in THE LAND but new to the best little city in the country. Hope to see you around.
Welcome back: To Rivka Tzidkoney and Simcha. We'd like to hear all about your adventures.
Welcome to the ESCA Committee: Ruth Szmarag joins as our latest Committee member. We will all benefit from her enthusiasm and creative energy…With regret we have accepted Rebecca's resignation from the Committee. She's a busy lady, what with commuting between El Paso and Ashdod. We thank her for her years of hard work. The Club has benefitted immensely from her devotion and commitment. We know we will still get her much-appreciated input even though it may be in an unofficial capacity.
Join hundreds of retired people throughout the country who are giving their time to help kids. Can you give four hours a week to help some kids who really need it? "Yadid L'Chinuch" needs people who care. You deal only with small groups, even one-on-one. You can tutor kids in math or English or just lend an ear. You don't have to have a teaching background. Maybe you can help in the library. Don't say, "I don't know anything special." You'd be surprised at how much you can contribute. If you'd like to know more then call Nitza at 054-7000911.
You should only be healthy! The Municipality still offers tai chi in the park at the corner of Herzl and Begin (opposite the Central Bus Station) every Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30. The yoga group meets in the same park on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. Both activities sponsored by the "GO Active" sports club. With winter coming timings may change, so be sure to check the times in the coming weeks.
Did you know? There's a zoo in Park Lachish (opposite the ORT maritime school) on the southern bank of the stream you cross to reach the port. It's smaller than an African safari but large enough to spend a morning. It's a nice place to bring the kids or grandkids. Check it out.
Do you like to help people? Do you like a challenge? You'll find you can meet both these targets by being a volunteer English teacher in Enosh. This organization helps people who need a helping hand – just some of your time, patience and expertise. Call: 8561311 for information. Their headquarters are on Marzuk Road in Azor Alef.

What are Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung?
Tai Chi Chuan means Supreme Ultimate Fist. Chi Kung means Energy Exercises. They are both ancient systems of exercise for the body and mind. There are plenty of slow movements that use the entire body and mind to increase energy, strength, coordination, balance, improve memory, and have fun.
What kind of person would enjoy and benefit from Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung?
Someone who wants to maintain functions of body and mind, and is ready to do a little practice each day in order to remember and improve. Each memory and improvement leads to more benefits and joy. Classes are traditionally held outdoors, and I teach in Park Golda, on Rehov Hare Golan, inside the Kinneret circle, on Wednesdays 9:00 and 19:00. Each class is 10 shekels. Private lessons are also available. Susan Liebhaber 054 2375512 www.taichisusan.com
Susan and her husband Paul are our new Members of the Month.

Is your washing machine on the blink?
Don't despair while you're waiting for repair. There's a Laundromat in Azor Bet on Borochov St. (parallel to Kibbutz Galluiot St.) sponsored by the Iriya. (In Hebrew it's called the Moadon Hak'visa). Call Esther, the nice lady who runs the place, for an appointment to wash up to 10 kilos of wash for NIS15 (but bring your own soap) and dry them for NIS 17. A pretty good deal and it beats taking your laundry down to the river. Call for reservation: 856-3834
